/from the exhibition in Den Gule Villa på Frederiksberg, DK 2014
IN ENGLISH:
The theme of the Exhibition "the NAKED human" presents 9 artists' visions of the human body from their personal interpretations and beliefs.
The human body has throughout history been portrayed in art from our many different global cultures and religions, from ancient china, india, americas to all world cultures.
In our western world roots from the ancient egyptian and greek art, like the Venus of Willendorf, to our Christianity beliefs of Jesus, though own scientific knowledge from the ancient greek, ..to the renaissance like Leonardo Da Vinci's studies of the human body, and to todays scientific and religious knowledge, the time changing keeps goes on.
Through the times the human nude has been admired, created lust, shame, indignation and horror. It has in some cases been sacred or an object, and our notions of what is beautiful and ugly, is often based on the human nudity. Especially today with Snapchat, Facebook and selfies, the nude human figure has accupied a central place in our global public space, and created many emotions, opinions and beliefs.
The exhibitions The Naked Human art presents artworks by 9 artists in Video, paintings, drawings, sculptures and photographs, and shows the diversity of each artist's unique imagery, expression and perspective.
The artists are: Line Taarnberg with paintings, photos and video. paintings Lotte Horne. Lotte Kjøller, Grethe Tranberg, Jeff Ibbo, Olav Johannisson with paintings and sculptures and Esben Fog and Barry Pringle with Photography.
During the exhibition, besides viewing our artwork, you can attend a workshop in figure drawing and we present the public with our interpretation of the nude human in happenings and in workshops and you can attend an art lecture "The nude
human in social and private life".. by Kim Bindesboel, past chairman of the Danish Naturalists. We also have music performance during the opening by Lars. You can read about all of us here on the site.
History of the group "the NAKED human art"
IN ENGLISH:
We started as an artist group after our first exhibition June 2014. One of us won among many themed exhibitions to exhibit "the NAKED human Art" in a exhibitionplace that does not exist any more, "The Yellow Villa" Frederiksberg, Copenhagen, DK – a less important exhibitionplace. During the exhibition was also Kim Bindesbøll's incredible talk and 3 croquis-events with event managers and models from the group. There were many people for opening both the people we knew and strangers -it was our town. The exhibition was so great that we decided it was not the last time we exhibit together. But it also brought a lot of debate about about our right to paint nudes. But wedo not take care of it. We do it anyway. The exhibition still have the form it had in "The Yellow Villa" like mixed art like Visual art, photo, music and talk in the same theme. You can view the exhibition on this page as a slideshow. You can see how small the exhibition was comparing to the slideshow from SAK on the contact page. Its historical now.
2.5 years after in the beginning of 2017 we again exhibited this time on the completely different 300m2 floored floors and as invited guests in the well-reputed SAK Exhibition Hall, Svendborg, Denmark. The exhibition, with its size and greatness, large works was quite overwhelming and received a very positive response. There were 250-300 guests from close to far from all of Fyn iceland and Zealand alone to the fernization, and SAK had to make new worksheets of several times. It was sold well. We received much praise for our opening speech that put the naked person into a contemporary perspective. People were surprised and positive and the press covered us well. An hour's croquis event took place during the fernisage while people walked around and saw art in the same room and there were many who looked past to draw. Svendborg was peacefull about it.
In 2018, a year after we exhibited in the vARTe Exhibitionhall. The Exhibitionhall at 333m2 is located in Varde municipality in Jutland in the countryside in Southern Jutland and here was people not so used to nudity. There came both people from Varde and tourists from all over Denmark for exhibition. In the days following the opening came many more passing by who had heard rumours that there was exhibited naked people in the Exhibitionhall. There was a croqisevent after live nude and an experimental, provocative talk about nudity with was quite unheard of in these parts of country ... So we were excited at the response.
Croquis was not accustomed but the town´s creative came all together. The characters end gave expression to our show was a breath of fresh air in town and they enjoyed the exhibition. The event got the participations to talk together to arrange the croquis drawing in the town. There had been before -but with clothed croquis models. To draw a nude and stand as naked person was totally unheard here -we do not speak about it. So the press came and we got a full page 2 sided article inJyske Vestkysten regional newspaper about croquis and in many web newspapers from all over Jutland. The news spread like wildfire ... It is hard to understand that our events in Varde almost was overvelming to the rest of a great artexhibit simply because that included real live nudes but it has something to do with the area. And it just shows that our events are art too.
Our 4 exhibition in Pakhus Gallery in Nykoebing Sealand, Denmark 2019 went brilliant and the art hangs throughout the house on the approx. 350 m2. The warehouse thinks it was the best exhibition they had ever had. There were people all the time and people spent a lot of time reviewing the exhibition one image at a time and we got all the praise. Well sold. There were just over 100 for the varnishing and people had come from afar to see the exhibition. There was a very long croquis event following the opening with a model in the form of a man and a woman.
All our exhibitions have created a part interest and debate in General popularity and in the media for example was the video from the SAK (which can be seen on this page) censored from Facebook because there were too many naked people in. Our inaugural speech causes people to confide in us afterwards. So our exhibition is not indifferent. It stirs debate. It creates interest. It makes people think. It hits something in our society right now on good and less good -in Denmark and in the world. It is something people have opinions about. I makes relevant questions. Should your place exhibit us next time?

Mange hilsner Billedkunstner Jeff Ibbo
IN ENGLISH:
by Jeff Ibbo, artist
We have had Venus from Villendorf for many thousand years. So I wonder if the nude has been a subject as long as there have been people with a stick could draw in the sand, paint with ocher or blood on the rocks, or could cut a tree stump. The image of people without clothes is a perpetual case and pretext for doing so has alternated, indigenous peoples cultivated fertility figures of both men and women. Prehistoric cultures had ritual and religious reasons to do it, in Europe early cultures had a image of the beautiful forms, since it was believed that the gods was a kind of idealized humans, and therefore developed an aesthetic around the naked human. Christianity and other monotheistic cultures began with sine concept, which opposed to the enthusiasm for the nakedness - and especially the female form was put to shame - even if you compensated by the nursing Madonna or pictorial allegories that made it justified to show the naked in Hades or other spooky places where nudity is not believed to adhere to unchaste thoughts. The study of the naked human art took place in private place after. It often was only men who stood model, so the imagination added that what was missing and figlief subordinates the rest. As late as in 1837 Eckersberg writes : "Today we painted for the first time a female model there was 7 students at the royal artacademy around her and the pictures are all quite naturalistic."
However, the basis was layed for that kind of figur painting, that I, Jeff Ibbo, learned the first years at the royal academy of fine arts, but funny enough it was modernism that stopped figurative art .. again. Now, art should be abstract and conceptuel and the naked human figure was again stylised, as it had been in the Middle Ages, it was not art in itself, only if it was made to display a thought/concept or entered into in the context of philosophical or allegorical content. At the same time we cultivated the new picturesque freedom as Cobra and the Abstract Expressionists and Concrete came with, from Jorn, Pollock and Mondrian, and the new Situationniste and Concept Artists, we removed ourselves from the iamge of the nude. "You cannot mean that " said my highschool teacher Gunnar Jebsen, one day when I had painted a black picasso similar picture of a naked lady with colorful colored shapes.
It was the art professors Svend Wiig Hansen and Palle Nielsen in Denmark, that again turned the human figur back into the danish artscene.. Of course there were others, like Ekelund and Kontillius also from Denmark who hired models to paint in their personal ways.
But basicly, the nude image was out of the art, and it was more in flim, comics and so-called erotic art that the naked human image lives a little cramped and vitamin poor live.
Where nudemodels drawing and paintings is made, is today among people who mostly want to learn how to draw outside academies and often without artist ambitions, but perhaps a new beginning?
Many greetings Artist Jeff Ibbo
IN ENGLISH:
What is the artist group the NAKED human art?
The naked human has been used as a motif and model ever since the Middle Ages. The motif has had its ups and downs depending on how people attitudes were.
Cavvaragio and Leonardo da Vinci for example has used the model. In the old days life as a model were very hard. The poor models stood for hours for artists like Cavaraggio in very difficult positions only supported by a stick like. It was a full time job that nobody could cope and these models died an early death. So it was not ordinary people who were artists nude model. It was beggars, homeless people and criminals who laid the body - in exchange for money, food and shelter. It was simply better than standing in the rain on the street.
Nowadays the models have better conditions. The models even in Denmark have their own Union. A model poses for her salary 20 min. and then 10 min. free and so on. And the model has allowed to say no to very complex positions that will harm her/his body. So models today do not die of their work. But it still requires a lot to be a model. It is hard for the body to sit in one position for so long. Today it is used both men and wemen as models of all types of people and looks; Thin, thick, black, white, etc. are used as a model.
Like Cavarragio, Leonardo Da Vinci and Picasso and many other artists we are professional artists who use the naked human/the nude as model and inspiration for our art in the artist group "the NAKED human art" Whether it has been in vogue or not has not affected our choice of motif. Many of us have worked with a human figure in protest to the world's view of the same. We care about the human body and mind. We've put the mann at the center of our art. How we do that is different just as past artists have done.
One can for example see that our sculptor and artist Jeff Ibbo ties in with Giagometti with the long simple shapes. Visual artist Lotte Kjøller goes back to Baselitz and Cobras expressive style as a painter but is more modernist in her sculptures. Grethe Tranberg is an artist working in the tradition of the old flamish painting of narrative figurative symbolism using a brown palet.Sculptor Olav Johannissons sculptures has likeness to archaic style and his paintings are expressive in style with Bonnard. Artist Line Taarnberg works with direkte paraphrases inspired by past masters such as Rodin. Visual artist The photographer Barry Pringle is very organic and come very close to the figure so that the body becomes a sign - a body sign - like the Japanese characters. Photographer Espen Fog is much more surealistisk and put together the characters perfectly in own universe like the visual artist Lotte Horne also do.
With us we have two other arts. Kim Bindesbøll with a very forward-looking and creative talk on the naked human and the musician Lars can help mucically.
